Fairfax Drumline

Our drumline is a specialized instrumental ensemble which functions as a part of the Marching Rebels. The drumline consists of marching snare, quint and bass drums (referred to as the “battery”) and mallet percussion instruments, synthesizers and other percussion toys (referred to as the “pit”). Members of the fall drumline are also members of the FHS Symphonic or Concert Bands.

Winter Drumline is an extra-curricular ensemble which meets from mid-November until early April. Any student who participates in FHS Band, Orchestra or Chorus is eligible to audition for Winter Drumline. Performances combine intricate and skilled musical passages with high-intensity drill formations. As a competitive unit, the drumline competes throughout the mid-Atlantic region during the winter months. We perform mainly in the Atlantic Indoor Association (AIA) and Winter Guard International (WGI) Circuits. In 2012, our A-Line team (above left) performed the "Momentum" program, and our Open-Line team (above right) performed the "They Only Come Out at Night" program.
